// Here is the continuation from yesterday// Rain coated the window in broken sheets, streaming down the glass in generous amounts. Adam gazed through to the distorted world below, his somber mood betrayed by the peace and calm in soft green eyes. He liked the rain. It washed away the offensive scents of the modern world that were so harsh on his nose, and took him back to the times before he had been turned- back to the days of colonial war, where patriotism had been everything for him. Such a noble cause it had been compared to his current line of work, mingling with the dark and lowly. That nostalgic calm would rush away however, as the door to the sitting room opened, admitting a sharply dressed young man who bowed immediately upon intrusion. “Forgive me, but our Master has another task for you. “Your Master.” Adam corrected, baring his fangs with a sharp growl. “Do I detect jealousy?” the man, known as Julian, replied teasingly as he straightened, his short black hair falling neatly back into place. Kyrios was exceedingly close to most of his staff, and in some cases much to close Adam would say. The though disgusted him, and he had done his best to keep a good distance between him and the… well, being. Kyrios was really unlike anything else, he could not deny. “You must be delirious…” Julian stepped forward in courteous manner to approach the vampire, “You really still hate him, don’t you. Love really is a powerful thing- you should let him show you sometime.” Despite his politeness, Adam had never liked the butler, who always masqueraded behind a mask of cheerful emotions. His aptness to tease the undead hunter was part the reason. “Would you like me to rip out you throat?” “Well, you might be ready to hug him after you’ve received your mission,” he held out a letter, ignoring the threat and smiling with sly amusement. “It’ll be your last. You’re free to go after this.” Adam narrowed his eyes, hesitant to take the folded paper. Staring the butler down for a moment, he snatched the envelope from the other’s grasp, taking the letter out and unfolding it. “Our aid has been requested, from an area that has long been in our interest,” Julian added in nonchalant comment, awaiting the vampire’s reaction as f he were on the edge of his seat. “You are to travel to the world of Rofla…” he half read the letter out loud in quiet tones, eyes scanning each handwritten word quickly in sweeping motions. It was another hunt- the one thing he was good at. Finding people. This time, however, he was being sent to kill. The target was… his breath caught, eyes locking on the name that stood so boldly on the paper. Emotions welled up from within- sadness and anger, but most of all a sense of thrill and excitement mixed with just fury. Mordin De’lacruse- the man who had taken from him what he had held most dear. “I will make sure that he gets EVERY bit the reward he deserves…” Adam looked to Julian. “You can tell Kyrios that no payment will be needed- I’ll prepare immediately.” Years ago, the half angel/half demon had bartered with Kyrios. So jealous had he been of the love shared between him and Serenity, that Mordin had asked for intervention, in exchange for carrying out a small task. Adam was taken captive, and forced to work under Kyrios, stuck in one world while Mordin went on to marry the woman whom he had held so dear on an entirely different plane. Well, karma sweetly paid it’s dues, and pay day had arrived. Julian bowed, a smile lighting his lips. “As you say.” The butler loved to watch these games play out, but Adam did not care this time. “When you are ready, just let us now.” A final glance from those violet eyes, and the younger man left the vampire’s presence. Adam held the paper firmly, eyes peering through the window and into the beyond as he envisioned the sweet taste that revenge would offer. No more lurking in the shadows- he would fight once again with justice on his side.
