It maintains over 30 different crops with strict organic techniques, gained partial barn, methane gas production, tilapia and manufacture of organic components in a small empirical laboratory including “lombricario”, bioferments, bamboo natural hormones, capture and reproduction of microorganisms, compost, fertilizers by osmosis of fruit, herbs or mixed, among others. During the activity, the guide will provide interesting and educational information regarding the history of the majestic mountain and the Arenal Volcano National Park. The hike begins in the Hummingbird Gallery, and goes through a trail about 1 mile long (1.8 km) where different insects, birds and nocturnal mammals can be seen. Day 5 April 06 2015 Selvatura Canopy Tour In which our clients traverse through cables and zip lines through the Cloud Forest. The Canopy Tour consists of 15 cables and 18 platforms and takes approximately 2.5 or 3 hours. In this tour our visitors will be zipped through each of the cables while attached to a top safety harness and using the best climbing gear available. It is an adventurous tour that elevates adrenaline to the maximum while keeping the safety level as the main goal. Day 6 April 07 2015 Monteverde to San Jorge, Nicaragua Following the next location you will cross the Peñas Blanca´s Border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua in order to reach San Jorge Dock. Upon your arrival to San Jorge port located at the South of Lake Nicaragua. From here, we will take the ferry to the volcanic island of Ometepe. After about one hour ferry drive, we will reach Ometepe’s main town Moyogalpa. From here, we will drive along a unique route, passing several villages and reach San Jose del Sur where we take our rooms for the coming night. Hotel Charco Verde The hotel and restaurant green lagoon is located in Ometepe Island, department of Rivas in Nicaragua. Nicaragua Lake has several islands, but the most outstanding is Ometepe Island due to its exuberant beauty, with an area of 276 square kilometers. Two volcanoes are part of the features of Ometepe Island; Concepcion and Maderas. Green lagoon, it owes its name to its green water that is caused to the plentiful vegetation in the shore, besides the high content of algae in its water. It has an extension of about three hectares, which works as lodging of abundant water species and local and migratory birds; these qualities classify the area as a protected area or Natural park Green Lagoon. The ecological reserve Green Lagoon is rich in flora and fauna, it is also very popular by its well known natives legends. Overnight at Charco Verde 2 Nights / Standard Room - Breakfast and dinner upon arrival day Charco Verde Lagoon and Ojo de Agua After breakfast we will visit the famous laguna “Charco Verde” known for its dark green lake, lush surrounding vegetation, birdlife and howler monkeys. Then we will visit “Ojo de Agua” a fresh pool of water in the middle of the island. Here we can relax and enjoy a dip in its crystal and refreshing waters. In the afternoon we will be back in our hotel. Day 8 April 09 2015 San Jose Del Sur (Ometepe) to Granada and City Walk On the way to Moyogalpa we make a stop at the museums “El Ceibo” to learn about the history of the currency in Nicaragua and admire some ancient archaeological pieces, testimony of the strong Indio activities in the past. From San Jorge, we continue towards Granada, the oldest city in the Americas, founded in 1524 by the conqueror Hernández de Córdoba. We will discover and enjoy the historical centre of this colonial jewel during a walking tour in Granada. During the tour you will learn the history of the city, and about the adventures of William Walker, who invaded the city in the year 1855. There is the chance to learn about the civil wars that have virtually destroyed the city in the past. At the same time, you witness the current restoration process which only makes the city even more attractive. Due to the historical and cultural value of the city, it is in the process of being declared a UNESCO world heritage site. Hotel Alhambra The oldest hotel in Granada, Nicaragua! Since our beginnings in 1898 to the present day we have striven to create a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for our guests. The Hotel Alhambra is a beautiful colonial-style hotel located on the west side of the historic Central Park; it is literally in the very heart of our city. Overnight at Hotel Alhambra 2 Nights - Breakfast Included Day 9 April 10 2015 Mombacho Volcano & Las Isletas includes dinner After breakfast we will drive to the Mombacho cloud forest reserve, the defining feature of the Granada skyline. At the entrance, we will take an ecomovil that will take us to the visitors centre. Together with our guide we will discover the secrets of the cloud forest. With some luck, we might have some great views of Granada and Las Isletas. Around midday we will drive back to Granada. After a short siesta, we will go by horse carriage to Lake Nicaragua to embark on a boat tour through the charming and paradisiacal “Isletas”. Created thousands of years ago by an eruption of Mombacho volcano, the little islands are home to numerous birds. In the late afternoon we will be back in Granada. As this is your last night of the trip you will enjoy a farewell dinner. Transfer to Liberia International Airport. Today you will be transferred from your hotel to the International Airport in Liberia Costa Rica for your flight back home. Please be advice that this will be a long transfer.
