Here is the email Ill be sending to Hull Daily Mail and other media...what do you think? Hi there, My name is Sarah Hemingway and I volunteer and help run Hull Homeless Outreach along with many other kind volunteers who are willing to give up their free time to help out and keep this organisation running. We are a non profit organisation and solely rely on donations from others or our own pockets when we can afford to do so, to provide food and clothing to the homeless and run our kitchen from Dock House every Wednesday evening from 7pm. Hull Harp kindly offered us the use of their kitchen when they saw us operating from the streets and saw just how many homeless used our kitchen. As you may be aware, Dock House closed in June this year where 18 beds are available but unused due to lack of funding. As we have been working with the Homeless for a few months now along with co founders James Bowie and Peter Lomas, we have been able to build relationships with Dock House residents who relied on this special service and a bed for the night. Its upsetting when you see how something so important to them is no longer available. As winter approaches and there are more and more homeless on the streets, there will be more need for emergency accommodation. As there are 18 beds already available in Dock House, we are calling on the council to help make funds available to finance this project and to make sure some of the homeless have a warm safe place over the winter period. A bed and a roof we all take for granted is a basic need for everyone. The reason for the email is to let you know of a PROTEST that is planned this Saturday 11th October outside The Warren in Queens Gardens with placards and a petition, asking the council to help with funding as Dock House have the building til 2021, so all funding is for the beds to be kept available and jobs created. I believe the council should help with looking after the most vulnerable and the needy as the rise in homelessness is on the up at a very fast rate around the country and as Hull has a £1.7 million underspend, maybe this could help towards keeping the beds available. Here is a link as to what we do as a charity. We are NOT part of Hull Harp or the council. It is all voluntary and donation funded from our own pockets or from other kind people with fund raising from car boot sales etc hullhomelessoutreach.co.uk/ Here is the link to our Face Book event https://facebook/events/582042105251669/?ref=23&source=1 Please give us some coverage to raise awareness Thanks Sarah
