Here is the kind of sick moment which differences in political philosophy can produce. In 1963, my mother and father are driving to Austin. I am a freshman at Edinburg HS. He hears a news story and pulls off the road into a San Marcos radio station to confirm the story. I go into PE class with Coach Flores right after lunch and hear the same news. Next period I go to my English class. Dad sees the radio station staff gathered around the AP machine reading the news: The President has been shot. At that very moment, two young women in the radio station are jumping with delight that President Kennedy has been shot and killed. And Molly Englemann (she deserves to be named) is doing the same thing in my English class in Edinburg. No doubt, many others across the country were dancing and laughing at the same moment. A President, father, brother has been assassinated and they are dancing around the bloody corpse.
