Here is the secret to making the perfect baked potato Use Idaho or russet for the best results 1. Wash your potato Remember potatoes grow in the dirt. Soak in warm water 5 minutes then with a new scrub brush ( used for food only) Lightly brush to remove excess dirt 2. Towel dry 3. Place the potato on a sheet pan & using a spray oil coat the top of the potato only Not the bottom 4. Using kosher or sea salt ( not table salt ) sprinkle on top of the potato. This is why Table salt contains iodine & will leave a after taste. The reason you use salt is it draws the moisture out of the potato during the cooking process giving you a perfect fluffy potato 5. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees And bake for 60-90 minutes depending on the size of the potato.
