Here is the video created by the students at Blacklick Elementary and myself. The students had to create a flip book animating a single letter from the word Blacklick. Then I brought in my green screen and filmed them posing and dancing. The students learned about using chroma key to eliminate a background, and how ti super impose themselves on top of their animated books. All the 5th graders came to an assembly in the library at the end of the day and were able to watch a rough video and see the process of editing in a program called Adobe Premiere. The last part of the video was a short animation done by a student named Matt. He created a 57 page animated flip book with a complete story. It was so awesome I had to include it in the final project. Matt has autism and socializing with other students is not easy for him. When the students saw his animation they cheered and clapped and asked to watch it again and again. Each time they watched it they added sound effects and laughed at the characters on screen. Matt was beaming in his moment, and for the first time he was not Matt the student with autism but Matt the animator.
