Here is today’s update on the current West Coast port - TopicsExpress

Here is today’s update on the current West Coast port conditions, as posted from our website: PMA issued a press release last night requesting the ILWU to agree to a temporary contract extension in order to end job-actions on the West Coast. The ILWU has yet to comment on this. Terminals in Seattle/Tacoma continue to operate slowly, with multiple vessels anchored outside Tacoma and waiting to dock. Los Angeles and Long Beach drayage truckers from one company, Green Fleet Systems, have agreed to stop striking but truckers continue to protest Total Transportation Services (TTSI) for poor working conditions and misclassification. The ports reported that members of the ILWU did not honor the pickets yesterday, and cargo-handling was not affected. The LA and LGB ports still continue to be congested, with nine vessels currently anchored in the bay waiting to dock. Earlier in the week, there were as many as 12 vessels anchored. There have been no updates on further job actions or walkouts at the Port of Oakland, but we continue to monitor the situation closely. Lastly, many carriers have announced that they will implement a $1000 per 40′ container “congestion fee” on cargo arriving to West Coast ports on or after November 17, 2014, until further notice. Furthermore, due to the long lines at the congested ports, truckers on the West Coast ports have also started to assess wait time fees to cover the additional cost of fuel and time spent waiting for containers.
