Here is whats on my mind. We at TWC News have been covering this years SXSW Festival the last 10-plus days under the direction of Executive Producer Andy Brooksbank with the help of Adam Balkin (interactive), Victor Diaz (film) and Andy Langer (music). Our work speaks for itself - our coverage, both positive and negative. We have tried to cover SXSW through an honest side of the prism. Our news team has covered criticism about the festival outgrowing Austin and our abilities as a city and community to host the world. Our entire news team of producers, assignment editors, reporters and photographers swung into action to report our first true SXSW tragedy when someone on some sort of run from police plowed through a street-covered group of music lovers, killing two and critically injuring a score of others. Weve also inaugurated the first iTunes Festival where among the worlds best musicians -- the likes of Cold Play, Imagine Dragons, London Grammar, Soundgarden, Kendrick Lamar, Mickey Guytan, Willie Nelson, Keith Urban -- dared to play before a somehow-connected worldwide audience in a room that holds less than 3,000 people. Dont tell me for a second that SXSW will not continue to be relevant and important when the place where I sit tonight continues to show the world how its done.
