Here is why Ill never buy a GM/ Chevy again...This is the recap of my car drama... Chevy is refusing to honor their own warranty..... Sorry for the long rant...But F GM and CHEVY!!! I bought a used 2010 Chevy Traverse in March 2014. I received two different recalls within 2 weeks. One recall was for the airbag which the light kept coming on, so I assumed thats why the check engine light came on, because it didnt come on until the airbag light came on. So I take it to my local Chevy Dealer on 7/31/2014 who did a diagnostic and said it was an oxygen sensor which I would have to pay for which I agreed and the timing chain needed to be replaced, which they told me was covered under warranty and would cost me anything. An hour later, they said the warranty is void because it appears it was never serviced for the life of the vehicle. I told them I didnt understand, because when I got the car, the dealer did an oil change, and I had gotten one about a month ago. The service adviser takes me to my car, which no longer had the motor in it to show me the engine. The engine did have oil sludge in it, which the adviser said could only happen from neglect of oil changes and I had 2 options, pay $500 for my car back without any work done, or pay $3000 for the timing chain to be replaced. At this point, Im furious because I believed the dealership I bought the car from sold me a lemon, so I go back to where I bought the car from and tell them the story from the Chevy Dealership. Car Mart (where I bought the car), told me that they are deceiving me because they didnt want to pay for the repairs because even though GM would reimburse them, it would be at a lower rate than what I would pay. Car Mart became curious and pulled the car fax again which showed the car was maintenance every 3k miles from a Chevy Dealer in NJ so that was proof the car received regular oil changes. Friday 8/1, I get the carfax from Car Mart and start to take the papers to Chevy, but the Dealer calls me and say, you dont need to bring them, I can pull it myself... WTF, why you didnt do that to begin with? Now, I go home call GM about my warranty and they say, if you can provide those service records to the dealership, they should honor your warranty. I call the Chevy Dealer back and tell them what GM says, so Chevy says, Ill call you on Monday after I call the dealerships back to verify all the service records are accurate. I say OK. Monday 8/4 goes by, no call, Tuesday rolls around, 3PM, still no call, so I call the Chevy Dealer, ask to speak to the Manager, they give me the assistant manager, who has no clue on whats going on, and say I have to wait for the service adviser to call me back. Wednesday 8/6- Chevy Dealer said they now need the service records from the time I had the car, mind you, I had the car less than 10k miles, but I did have the oil changed 2x since then. I go back to Car Mart, which offers free oil changes for the life of the car, they serviced the car once, but the second time I went to get service, they were booked, and sent me to a local Meineke, who does work for them to get my oil changed. Because I didnt pay for the oil change, I didnt get a physical receipt and didnt think anything of it, because Car Mart paid. Car Mart provided me with the receipt that they did the work and the bill from Meineke as well. I then turn in those to receipts to Chevy, and they say they will get back to me the following day. Thursday 8/7- No Call Back Friday 8/8 (Without a car for 8 days!)- I call back and ask whats the status, they say they submitted the receipts to their District Manager and is waiting for her answer on whether or not the Dealership will do the work. They will get back to me on Monday 8/8 Monday 8/11 (12 Days without a car)- I get a call from the Chevy Dealer saying the District Manager is disputing the Meineke paperwork because it said estimate on it, but I noted it also had a hand written note that said Work Done on it. Chevy tells me anyone could have written that and they are not accepting it. Again, Im furious and conference call Car Mart and Chevy together so they can figure out what they need. Chevy says they need a returned check or something that says they paid for the $26 oil change. Car Mart says ok, theyll get with Meineke and get documentation. Im still furious and go to the dealership and demand to speak to the service manager, who was so rude, that he never got off his phone call while dealing with me. So now I want to speak to the Service Director. I go into his office and explain my situation, he claims the only way to get sludge is not getting oil changes, and pretty much says no matter what documents I provide, the look of the engine says otherwise and the District Manager will probably deny it again even if the Meineke paperwork was correct. I ask for the DM name and number because I want to go directly to who ever is denying the claim. Then Im told thats not possible, but they will e-mail her and ask her to call me... Now at this point, i ask for a loner car because once again, they still have my car and Im waiting for a response from them. Then the Service Manager says, if your work is not covered under warranty youll have to pay for the loner and you already are complaining about paying the $500 to get your car back..... Needless to say, I called GM again, and now need to wait to speak to someone higher to get this resolved....
