Here we are Sunday night and the end of the Tucson Meet Yourself. I caught myself asking, why cant this happen every weekend? And as I thought about it more, I continue to ask, why cant this happen everyday? And what I truly wish for is the peace and harmony and acceptance of diversity and culture. So many people sharing their culture, music, food, folkloric dances and traditional songs. For one weekend so many people from all over the world came to one place to share themselves and be exposed to one another and eat and drink together, in peace. Strangers sat across from one another as they ate their food in peace. Strangers sat beside one another as they were entertained by all the performers on the many stages. Children were playing on the dried up fountain together as if it were a playground and it was wonderful. So many people working to feed the masses and so many people wanting to explore different cultures and be fed new culture and food different from what they are accustomed to eating every day of their lives. I saw flags and labels that said Cuba, Denmark, Poland, Mexico etcetera etcetera, but in the end we all had one thing in common. We are all human beings. We all breathe the same air, drink the same water and enjoy food music and dance. We are all the same in the end. Dark, light, tall, short, thin, thick, small or large. We are all humans and we all wish for peace. I guess my question is, why cant this be the an everyday thing? I wish and look forward to the day that people appreciate the differences that we all have and appreciate diversity. The day we all love the fact that we live in a giant salad bowl and express love for one another and this planet and all life on it. Racism is a virus of the ignorant ego driven mind. Love is universal and unity is essential to life. If the Tucson Meet yourself does anything for you, let it be something to wish for on a global scale. Wish for peace and harmony everyday. Everywhere not just here. Every human being deserve it. Not just us. I wish this every day. Wish it with me. Moises Orozco
