Here we go again; attitude adjustment take 6: With an afternoon late start riding yesterday, I didnt intend to make it much further than 50ish miles to Vizcaino, a town where services, such as: food and water would carry me further into the desert, where somewhere Id camp. Sure had no desire, or real want, of going on to San Ignacio (~127 KM=~80mi) where the next real amenities would exist. Though here I am. Yet, sweating, and with plenty of fluids to back into a body with pores wide open, one learns how to carry water in plenty in the desert...gotta have it! I camped ~6KM short of the later community. The day brought a memorable smile from a young girl who had bagged my groceries in Vizcaino, and then galloped after me when Id forgotten my bananas...desert heatll do that yah know: lose ones nanas:) A chat with a boy on a BMX bike, whom between the two of us and the ten words I think we each understood, there was a common bond: a bicycle. Outside a store, a man seemed to be trying to hook me up with a hooker, and I know enough hard spanish from my prison days and spanish speaking friends to pretty much tell him, not so politely: your crazy in your head, etc... Storms are here with a hurricane off the south west coast. Thunder, lightning and walls of rain are present flooding low lands and carving new depths in old dry river beds. Next to one of those overflowing rivers I made camp last night. Quite tired, yet feeling stronger from a good days ride. Clothes were wet from sweat, and I took advantage of that water flow. Over the road by like three inches it, the water, was pouring, and at that spot, I washed at 10pmish: my clothes, my hair, and body. Just about done when a 4x4 pickup truck comes hauling through that low road without slowing down, Im like 3-4 from the side of the roadway river/waterfall, the tires on that truck carve a path through the water and there I am...clean as a desert terrain river water bath can get one, when that water displacement just slams me, hard, and muddy...and I just laugh, Jesus....I thought it funny, I simply laughed. Cleaned back up, lay down at my camp ~30yards on the opposite side of the road and up river. Went to bed ~11pmish to stars in the sky, awakened around 2.30am to a blanket of storm cloud darkening the sky. Concerned for getting my gear drenched, I arose, tied up camp, and hit the road. Lifes funny, maybe Im losing my bananas, yet it feels good to laugh. Storms a coming, probably gonna get plenty wet. Today I hope for you...just laugh. Until again, Adios
