Here you go Mrs B - Preps being introduced to the Blue Level Sound Pic Sandwich within a few weeks of using SSP. So no more Magic es - which dont always work anyway. It doesnt matter what code level they are actually working on, introduce this as early as possible so they start looking for them within environmental print etc. We explicitly teach it again when they reach Blue, but most will be really confident using them even before then. If you go to the Blue Level on the free SSP Spelling Piano app for ipads you will see these - ute, flute, cake etc. They children have to spell them according to speech sounds first. So u-e/ t first - to then be ute - f/l/u-e/t - to then be flute c/a-e/k etc. What do we hear? What speech sounds do we use? Now draw a line for each, and then choose the sound pics!
