Heres David Maddock checks in again: We hear that Konoplyanka is already on eye-opening wages at Dnipro - approaching £100,000 a week, so if Liverpool are to sign him then it will take a massive commitment, because a four and a half year contract would take the total outlay to almost £40m, with the £15m-plus fee. Thats a massive gamble on someone from a nation with a relatively poor record of success in the Premier League. Perhaps only Andrei Kanchelskis has been a successful Ukrainian traveler...and there have been plenty of misses, not least Liverpools own Andrei Voronin. No wonder negotiations are protracted.
