Heres The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 review with no spoilers in it. The film has a great plot with lots of twists and turns, with superb CGI and wonderful acting it makes and enjoyably tense watch with the tension building throughout. Jennifer Lawence’s performance as Katniss Everdeen is brought out best in the film compared to the other two films previous. She was pushed to the best of her abilities to convey the emotional distress and anger of the character and she succeeded fairly well, not an excellent performance but well done, solidifying the roots of Katniss Everdeen. The soundtrack is on cue and adds suspense and drama where needed, but the colours and CGI was thing which above all else will catch you eye. We are shown such a wide variety of landscapes of stunning landscapes and devastated cities, and we can happily see them with little fault. There is so much credit to be given to this film. But saying this, there is an aspect lost in the characters, we are not shown the intimate relationships between the characters with enough strength. The film heavily relies on its drama and tension and sometimes the drama and character development is cut short of its full potential. Coming from the sense of a film not compared to the book I would give it 8/10. Some may find it slow, but there is tension within the slow pace movement of the film! Definitely worth a look at whether you read the book or not. So overall, it was well produced, the script that they did work with, but for something which feels it is going to be close to the book, and it’s a bit of a let-down. But aside from that it’s packed with drama which is enhanced with the action in film. A film everyone should give the 2hours of their life to go see, not the best it’ll make you want to see Part 2. I’d stand firmly on giving it 6.5/10 (that’s not the average of the two scores I gave above as I feel the 6/10 weighs on it more than the 8).
