Heres The White Paper, a document outlining the NSW/ACT Synods - TopicsExpress

Heres The White Paper, a document outlining the NSW/ACT Synods vision for theological education for all Gods people - particularly in the Uniting Church in Australia. Its a document with words, dot points, diagrams and a few white spaces - designed to be read by a wide range of people. Weve also included as appendices some of the considered thinking and research done for the Uniting Church in this area over the last 20 years. No point in reinventing the wheel. This paper is the third incarnation to be shared around since June. Responses, in writing and in conversation have been and will continue to be valued. Ive learnt through this process that to provide leadership in a learning community you have to be prepared to continually listen, swallowing pride and allowing for your own capacity for learning in the process. In summary Theological education is linked with lifelong learning for all members of the church. Outsourcing theological education runs the risk of losing distinctive UCA values. People learn best in learning communities. Education is best developed in cohorts of educators who bring different skills. A network of educator cohorts needs coordination, resources and ongoing support. A centre for learning can help identify and grow new learning communities, develop resources, grow educational and networking capacity in traditional and new disciplines. Bringing together a range of offerings at one college requires a culture of collaboration and innovation, best supported by the opening of a new college which incorporates what are currently known as United Theological College, Resourcing Team and others. ume.nsw.uca.org.au/the-white-paper/
