A Greenfield Mass woman was one of three people killed in a head on crash on Route Nine in Stoddard New Hampshire over the weekend. State police say 54-year-old Mary Newton, of Greenfield, Massachusetts, was driving west on Route 9 in Stoddard on Saturday afternoon when her car entered the eastbound lane and hit an RV head-on. Newton and a 16-year-old passenger were killed. A passenger in the RV was also killed. FairPoint Communications workers remain on the job under an expired contract after negotiations broke off over the weekend. Mike Spillane from Local 2326 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Vermont said Saturday that talks will resume in the coming days. On Sunday, a FairPoint spokeswoman said the two sides remain far apart, and the company is considering its options. A burglary in Jacksonvlle is being investigated. Vermont state police say over 500 dollars in merchandise was reported taken from the Jacksonville General store between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Volunteers turned out in Townshend over the weekend, to help Grace Cottage Hospital. Proceeds from the annual hospital fair day will go toward special projects selected by the hospital’s auxiliary.
