Heres a cool article w some isolated tracks from some of the greats. From a lense used today, one could view these as extremely sloppy and ready for some major Beat Detective (a computer program designed to even out all the beats. But thats not what music was about back in the day. It was more about the feeling or the energy of the track as a whole. I believe in the era of gross editing of music, the era in which we live, were starved for the real, organic food, rather than processed rubbish.
