Heres a cool interactive chart that shows the range of fundamental notes recorded by some of the top vocalists of all time. To help you understand how this translates to frequency, (data from Yamaha Sound Reinforcement Handbook): C1 32.70Hz C2 65.41Hz C3 130.81Hz C4 261.63Hz C5 523.25Hz C6 1046.50Hz C7 2093.00Hz C8 4106.01HZ When mixing, the fundamental note is the start of the tone for any instrument (especially voice). The tone of the voice comes from harmonics which will be noticeable at much higher frequencies. For example (Also from the SR Handbook), at fundamental note of 500Hz, “the harmonics will occur at 1kHz, 1.5kHz, 2kHz, 2.5kHz, and so on.”
