Heres a little bit about one of the pieces for this show. In his own words: Jesse Hinostroza Jr.: So now that this drawing is out, I can explain what is going on here. I was asked to be in a Goddess Mother art show that artist Andrew Cervantes is hosting. I said yes because I couldnt say no to him plus i loved the idea. I personally gave it some thought about what would I do, and Madonna came to mind. Now for many reasons Madonna has been and still is influential in my life, just like Prince. She took risks and stood up for people who were being prejudiced against, she brought AIDS to the spotlight and helped bring more awarness and support. She stands against injustice not just here but all over the world and works to educate and bring awareness on social and political issues. She is a mother, she is one of the hardest working artists in the business and she has overcome all the backlash and name calling that people who think they can judge, threw at her but she always came out on top and with her head held high. I was afraid of the similarities to the Virgin Mary, and thought the devout catholics would certainly not understand, but being raised catholic and still practicing, I decided to change her face a little. Well, after some late night chat sessions with Andrew, I decided that I would keep my original idea and let it be Madonna, but by then it was a little too hard to erase and redo but this is the final result and I would accept whatever came to me. So, this is Madonna as the Goddess Mother.
