Heres a little tidbit of History for those of you who live in the Prairie Provinces and are Home Schooling. Have your kids trace some of these people from the Archives. Daniel F. At Moosejas (Sask.) where I live, there are nearly a score of Carleton Co., N.B. men. The chief hall in town is carried on by J. BUBAR of Carleton Co. On the express train running from Brandon (Manitoba) to Moose Jaw is Frank N. RISTEEN, engineer. George RISTEEN is conductor on the train running from Winnipeg South to St. Vincent. Willard RISTEEN is conductor of a train as well. Wm RISTEEN is employed in the storage dept. at Winnipeg. These boys are all brothers and hail from York Co. Wm BROWN s/o Trackmaster BROWN of N.B. Railway is conductor of a train on the Thunder Bay Division east of Winnipeg. At Moose Jaw, a young man, the brother of Inspector GAUNCE, Fredericton is doing a business in agricultural implements. T. McGIVERN, formerly of St. Marys (York Co.) has taken up a claim in that vicinity. Thomas SIMMONS and David CARR, formerly of Fredericton are both in thr express business at Winnipeg. On the the best firemen on the Winnipeg force is Frank CARR who hails from Fredericton. J. PELKY, Nova Scotian, carries on an extensive general store in Winnipeg. Chief MURRAY of the Winnipeg force and many of his men are Nova Scotians. John CAMERON, formerly of I.C.R. is trainmaster on Thunder Bay division. P. GALLAGHER, previously of Saint John controls an extensive meat concern in Winnipeg. In the wholesale meat concern of Primrose & Rocan, a prominent position is occupied by Millard STAPLES of St. Marys (York Co.) Mr. MOTT is employed in the savings bank. Mr. McDADE will make his home in Winnipeg. Thomas HENRY, a young man from Belledune (North. Co.) is assistant manager of the Hudson Bay Co. store at Winnipeg. Herbert DAYTON and Charles DAYTON of Douglas (York Co.) have a grocery business in Winnipeg. Our physician at Moosejaw is Dr. PITBLADO brother of Rev. C.P. PITBLADO of Winnipeg, both Maritime men. J.P. BROWN of Jacksonville (Carleton Co.) is at Moosejaw. Dudley JEWETT, also of Jacksonville, and afterwards of Fredericton, is farming at QAppelle Valley. Tyler BURPEE, formerly of Long Lake (Sunbury Co.) is also on a farm. Moses BURPEE, his brother, is a civil engineer and is now employed in Southern Manitoba on the surveyed extension of the Southwestern Railway. James WATSON, formerly engineer on St. John & Maine Railway, is employed on that Railway and so is, Daniel McDONALD, also formerly of St. John & Maine. Henry PERLEY, who kept a hotel at Fredericton is in the same line of business at Carberry. Dell PERLEY of Maugerville (Sunbury Co.) also runs a hotel at Wellesley, N.W.T. Fred HUME and Harris HUME of Fredericton are clerking for Henry Perley and have taken up claims in the N.W. which they will occupy in the spring. Isaac YERXA of Keswick (York Co.) has a claim at Moosejaw. At Virden, west of Brandon, Wm McLEAN, Fredericton and Wilber STERLING, Maugerville, are located. (see original)
