Heres a pretty picture of a nice newborn calf, still wet from its birth fluids. Cute. Whats that behind it?, I hear you say. Thats the calfs mother, collapsed, unable to rise and fast disappearing down a steep slope onto the busy road below. The only bit of her still in the field is her uterus, which she has just completely prolapsed. Cold wind and driving rain completes the picture. Nice. Fortunately the cow became entangled in a tree a bit further down the slope so didnt end up on the road, and after a struggle I got her uterus cleaned and back into her and then with the help of a tractor we got her disentangled from the tree and back into the field...
