Heres a public safety announcement from the Pollera family: On July 4th, approximately one hour after Dondi and I had a discussion with Evan because he rode his bike without a helmet, my darling husband decided to take a little spin himself…sans helmet. Within 10 seconds, Dondi jumped off the curb at a high rate of speed and the front wheel hit something in the street. He slid face first across the street and badly injured his entire right side from knee to eye. He is FINE now…banged up badly, 2 black eyes, scrapes all over his handsome face, a gash beneath his eye (which was only saved by his sunglasses which probably saved his eyesight based on the condition of the lens), 10 torn knuckles, you name it and its a mess. He will go for a shoulder X-ray tomorrow as it is badly injured. My husband is very lucky and I shake thinking of the head injury he was spared. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE NEVER RIDE A BIKE WITHOUT A HELMET, NOT EVEN FOR A QUICK SPIN.
