Heres a slightly longer post: Eric Liddle was the main character from the movie Chariots of Fire. He said God made me fast and when I run I feel His pleasure. Well God did not make me super fast so I will never really be a sprinter. Neither did he make me light so I wont be a climber. But, He gave me endurance and a diesel engine. I can go hard and long. :) And tonight I felt His pleasure while cycling my heart out. When I got home in the dark, I stopped for a moment to thank our Lord for the tremendous privilege to be fit and to be able to cycle. I have not really competed in any races for exactly a year now due to working on our new movie Born To Win Movie and acting in a new movie Khumbula - I will remember. But, tonight I cycled from Durbanville with a couple of friends to ride in the weekly criterium at the Killarney motor race track. The format is that you ride for about an hour at full speed. Tonight my average speed was 41,49 km/h. Including cycling there and back I did 85 km in total. And it was fantastic to see some really good cycling friends and some of South Africas top cyclists. Oh, and to the driver of the Land Rover who tried to ride over us in Durbanville, while honking his horn, two things - first of all you spoil your own evening when you drive like that, we were two cyclists riding at the very side of the road, with lights on and behind each other (perfectly legal) and secondly, when you pass us with only millimeters between your vehicle and our bikes you seriously put our lives at risk. Do you really think its worth it? Sleep well everyone! :)
