Heres a very short video of Bella flushing a hen pheasant. For those of you who dont hunt, by law, you cant shoot hens, only roosters, which is why this very nicely flushed bird (well in range) gets to fly away! Ive added a slo-mo loop at the end, so you can better see it. Im to the left of Bella in this shot (you cant see me, but Im in perfect position). She clearly was on a hot scent, and that alerted me to be ready. I was ready. Oh yeah. Very ready. I love how she watches the bird fly off. This is called marking in retriever dogs. If I had dropped the bird, shed have a really good idea where it had gone down. As you can see, the vegetation is very dense. Without a good-marking retriever, youd hardly ever find a bird youve shot. HIT THE HD BUTTON TO SEE THIS AT ITS BEST! Enjoy.
