Heres a worrying fact: Ten days ago, I was contacted by a very nice lady who had been ripped off £50 for a supposedly fully working washing machine she bought from Facebay. The bearings had gone on the machine; the waste pipe had a hole in it; all 3 lifters in the drum were damaged and had to be replaced; there was debris (including a rotting carrot) in the filter and the soap drawer was filthy. Since then, Ive been keeping count of people contacting me after they have bought washing machines from the internet that dont work. So far, FIVE PEOPLE IN TEN DAYS have contacted me to buy replacement machines. PLEASE!!!! If youre going to buy a second hand washing machine, GET A WRITTEN GUARANTEE and ask yourself just two questions: 1) Does the seller look like they can afford to replace a perfectly good washing machine with a new one? 2) If they dont look rich enough to change their machine on a whim, why are they selling you a machine that they are claiming is in perfectly good working order? Now, I realise that there are honest sellers out there with good reasons for selling their machines and I hope they dont feel Im questioning their integrity, but the fact is, when you buy a washing machine without a guarantee, youre just rolling a dice, so just be careful out there folks!
