Heres an answer to the let them work it out comment so often heard: Recently a strangers dog charged a dog I was out with, when I was on my bike. As her dog tried to fight mine, who was on leash and being protected by me, as I was precariously straddled on a bike, she told me to let mine off-leash so that they could work it out. I wish I was joking, but this is true. While her dog was trying to eat mine, after near knocking me off my bike, she told me to let mine off... People like this leave me so conflicted. The Reasons this is Wrong: 1) The dog I had has serious aggression, and would have put her dog in the Hospital. She totally misjudged reading my dog. 2) Not all dogs do work it out. Most learn how to fight better. 3) Dogs die in dog fights, way more often than you would think. But no one discusses it. 4) Always look at the source of advise. This lady let her dog try to attack mine. If I follow her advise, If I am able to follow her instructions well, I too can hopefully have a dog that behaves like hers (to run away and attack other dogs). 5) Letting dogs be dogs, and behaving in this way, is really letting an ass be an ass, and allowing him to master intimidation. The Reasons this is Right: 1) The more dogs like hers charge, the stronger they get mentally, and this keeps me in business 2) Allowing dogs to work it out, when it doesnt work, keeps me in business 3) Every vulnerable dog (young, impressionable) that gets charged like this will become future clients for me. She is giving me an entire generation of new Growl Students. 4) I missed my moment to topple to the ground from my bike, twist my leg, and have a massive dog fight on top of me. This lucrative move would have left me organizing how to make her house my own. But that is not me. Unlike her, I am not unfair. She is unfair to her dog, and all other dogs, and all owners of the dogs that are going to need retraining. Without people like this, I would suddenly not be busy. I could organize my office, I could keep my training building sparkling clean, and have a spotless parking lot. I could even edit my posts with all my spare time! So if you know who this lady was, or if you know her twin sister, her Auntie, or anyone else that believes this type of behaviour is okay, please post this onto their wall! Share, and save the next generation of dogs! Monique Anstee Victoria, BC The Naughty Dogge
