Heres an image from last Saturdays sunset visit to a dam just outside the Overberg village of Genadendal. A shot like this can only work when there is no wind to disturb the reflections of the mountains and clouds. And since it doesnt take much wind to disturb the surface of a large dam... Id been unlucky on two previous visits to this location. There was no wind when I arrived at this dam on Saturday afternoon... but by the time Id found this composition and set up my camera and tripod... a slight breeze had appeared from nowhere to spoil my chances once again. I decided to stick around until after sunset... in case it settled down again at some stage. The wind-gods clearly felt sorry for me... because it did settle down again... for exactly two minutes... just enough time to grab a couple of quick shots. I only have one more spot available on CapturEarths Greyton workshop from the 17th till the 19th of October. Please click here if youd like to join in the fun... capturearth/expeditions/view/greyton-jewel-of-the-overberg Nikon D800, Nikkor 14-24 mm at 14mm, aperture of f/14, with a 1/8th second exposure.
