Heres an update from Nancy at the Lone Tree Veterinary Medical - TopicsExpress

Heres an update from Nancy at the Lone Tree Veterinary Medical Center about Rustys progress! Rusty is coming along really well. My husband said it is the worst fracture hes ever repaired, but he was able to get everything properly in place, plated and pinned (it was a long procedure). Weve been hoping Rusty would want to start using the surgery leg this week, as well as the front leg with the partial paralysis, and he took the big leap in his recovery yesterday -- started standing on his own! Now, hes begun walking, looking for treats and finding private places to go potty -- its great to see. Its also very encouraging to see him putting weight on both his front legs, standing on all fours as you see from the photo. Hes not walking normally, but it looks promising that he will in time, as he continues to gain strength and control. Besides lots of attention from our staff, weve been giving him daily laser therapy at his surgical site and the area affecting his front leg. We also have him on a good puppy diet (Science Diet Healthy Advantage Puppy) to help him nutritionally and to put on weight. He is such a sweet dog -- always ready to give kisses, and let us pet and hug him! At least 3 staff members have asked to give him a permanent home once he is fully recovered. Anyway, we will continue to do our best to help him become fully mobile, and I will update you next week on his progress. How awesome is that?! Hes on the road to a great recovery and not only that, hes got three potential homes! Way to go Rusty! Thank you to everyone thats donated towards this wonderful cause and thank you to the team up at Lone Tree Veterinary Medical Center!
