Heres an update on Vicki Kilcrease Bishop for those who dont get to hear from us in person on a regular basis: She has now completed 25 of the 35 radiation treatments. The last one will be on Aug 20. The treatments are taking their toll on her, but she is hanging tough. Her throat is like burnt toast, her taste buds are all out of order, and she has constant overpowering saltiness in her mouth. She is taking medication for the throat and for thick saliva. She has slowly lost the desire or ability to eat anything. I was cooking anything she thought she could eat, but the radiation, or my cooking, has completely taken away her appetite. She is surviving on Boost and Ensure drinks.The doctor saw her Tuesday and is pleased that her weight is holding pretty close to normal, blood pressure and pulse were good, and she is not showing any signs of dehydration. He said she is doing about as well as can be expected for the amount of radiation she is getting. Just 10 more treatments..... and we are counting them down. Thanks to everyone who has sent her cards, they mean a lot to her.
