Heres by courtesy of Jonathan David Holmes, Ben Selvin & his orchestra performing Me & The Boyfriend (https://youtube/watch?v=jxyhKJbOI7Y), which he cut on September 9 of 1924 in New York & was issued on Banner 1408 & british Imperial 1408 as Newport Society Orchestra, Domino 387 as Clarence Shermans Dance Orchestra, Pathe Actuelle 036155 & Perfect 14336 as the Southampton Society Orchestra, Oriole 250 as Imperial Dance Orchestra, Regal 9705 as Bar Harbor Society Orchestra, Silvertone 2423 as Broadway Players, canadian Apex 8265, Olympic 1379 as Dance Orchestra (which could be the british label or the label founded by John Fletcher: mainspringpress/fletcher.html) & british Currys 197 as Currys Dance Orchestra. I used to think that the trumpet soloist on this side was Earl Oliver, but after reading the Nick Dellow article Eddie Lang: The formative years, 1902-1925 Part Two - The Mound City Blue Blowers in London (vjm.biz/168-eddie-lang-part-two-web.pdf) from where i learned a lot about Julius Berkin, i started to think that the trumpeter on this recording could be probably him (however, i need confirmation of Berkins presence on this record). The other musicians are Hymie Farbermans snappy trumpet, Larry Abbotts alto sax & clarinet plus another man, Lou Dalys tenor sax & clarinet (not Bernard Daly as i used to think), Lew Cobeys piano, John Calis romping rollicking banjo, John Pop Hellebergs tuba & Selvins longtime sideman & founding member Milton Sandss drums. By the way, hope youll like this one!
