Heres my 9-11 story have to tell it for a couple of reasons. One being that I have spent going on 26 years in service to my community which I am very proud to say I have done, and I know many others are equally proud to serve. Primarily, because on this day thirteen years ago my Son Daniel was four years old. After a long day of getting news about the attacks, I came home to get my wife Renee and Daniel and head to church for a prayer meeting to deal with the emotions. I stood outside with tears rolling down my face…….worried for the future Daniel would have and what he would have to encounter. He looked up at me and asked, Dad whats wrong? In that tone of voice only a child can give his parents what is completely innocent and full of compassion. I told him, Baby, I dont know. He answered back Are we going to be okay? That simple query was followed by years of Daniel watching and reading about the attacks. He was fascinated about anything that shed light on what happened. 13 years later my SON intends to join the Marine Corps and pursue a field in medical related fields and firefighting. I say this not to diminish other posts I see by Proud Parents about their Children and their accomplishments. If Daniel won game seven for the Yankees in the world series, won the Heisman at USC, or got accepted to the most prestigious University I COULD NOT BE PROUDER OF HIM, than for him to join the MARINES CORPS in a time of such turbulent and violent times. He still has to earn that GLOBE AND ANCHOR, but I cannot imagine him in all the success he has had this past year than doing any less and serving this GREAT NATION against an evil foe who wishes us all harm. I LOVE YOU SON! YOU ARE MY HERO! We are going to be OKAY! Dad
