Heres my Haiti testimony from church this morning, for those who couldnt be there: God used friends and family to provide the way for me, Jordan and Mikayla to serve on the 2015 Haiti Team. I just want to say thank you for sending us, and for your prayers. Last year, my heart was broken as soon as we left the Haiti airport. We had a small group of luggage porters helping us with our luggage, and I noticed that one of them was being treated roughly by the other porters. They were hitting him to get his attention, and I soon realized that he was deaf, but he was not using any sign language. This hit a soft spot in my heart, since two of my grandparents were deaf. I later learned of a church that had a deaf school, and that it was the only of its kind in Haiti. Pastor Lenny and his wife have an outreach, and we had the opportunity to hold a clinic there and treat both hearing and deaf people of his church. It gave me hope for the deaf of Haiti. This year, the first big ray of hope that God showed me was when the very same porter helped us again. But this time, he was in charge, and there was a second deaf man helping, too. They were signing to each other, and I was so excited to see that he actually did know sign language. I introduced myself in sign language and learned that his name is Francis. That was just another little nod from God that he brought us together to minister to my broken heart, since my grandfathers name was also Francis. Later in the week, we returned to Pastor Lennys for church on Sunday as well as a clinic day on Wednesday. We had many opportunities to sign with the deaf members of his church, in praise songs and in fun conversations. I had a great week helping on the medical team, but those opportunities to connect through sign language filled me up with such joy, I will never forget it!
