Heres my epiphany - John Key and Cameron Slater Im starting to wonder if Slaters chat with the PM is in fact a briefing to him. Jason is gone, Phil is gone... In other words the intermediaries have gone. Would the new staff take up the other functions offered by Jason for example - its black ops, very specialised and you need to have a working network, trust within that network etc. Also if this was a simple chat, where was the chattiness, e.g. hey JK hope you washed your hands after holding the Koala, arent they known carriers for certain diseases?? What Im suggesting is that there was no chat taking place, instead Slaters words are what you say when you are giving someone a quick run-down on the state of play, strategic stuff; a briefing. Left-wing blogger approaches Slater says I want to study under you, you are the Master. Possibly provides some intel as proof of legitimacy. Slater is able to validate intel re: Goff leaking report via another source. Slaters personality type, which I classify as narcissistic/anti-social - he has low inhibition controls, very low empathy, hence how mean he can be without any reservations. He is grandiose and believes in his own majesty and indeed that of his Fathers too. Recall Slater thinks his Father should be Knighted for his work for this country. When Nickys book came out Slater could not shut up. You could sense that the Nats were getting pretty sick of Slater speaking publicly about stuff, which was really making matters worse. I found that time and Slaters behaviour really fascinating; he was obsessive and so angry. Again, these are traits you can expect from someone who has a narcissistic/anti-social personality disorder. Slater is also very smart. Ironically, Slaters actions which have been very helpful to the JK Government, other than when Nickys book came out and again, right now at this moment... Slater could also be the Achilles heel. That lack of inhibition and self-control, a very risky person to be associated with; he is unpredictable and his huge ego is a real vulnerability. I thought Keys reactions to the briefing from Slater were very restrained. I wondered whether the PM was thinking to himself, OK mate now is really not the time to be communicating with me. And the thing is Slater wouldnt be satisfied just telling the PM Intel, he would need his reward which he gets by telling the source (potentially this Left-wing blogger who rates Slater as the Guru). I read the first two dumps of Cameron Slaters emails. His behaviour was always been to report back to whoever he was up to shenanigans with; large egos need to hear how great they are and they can only get that by disclosure. How can you be known as great unless you let people know how truly influential you are. With that in mind, Slater passes the intel on to JK and then lets the source know - bomb dropped directly to the PM. Except the source isnt Slaters mate at all, he lets Labour know that the bait was taken, communicated to JK... and Megan Woods asks what would have been a pretty random question in the House to have asked, were it not for the fact that she already knew what the answer was. Anyway, JK panics and says no. Suddenly JK finds himself in a situation where he has lied in the House and that action is a law-breaker. Remember too that Slaters message to JK referred specifically to Phil Goff releasing the report early, and that was JKs major thrust during the first Q and A time for deflecting away from the reports contents. Phil did this!!!, forget about what we did. Personally, I dont care about Phils actions; he wasnt the one under investigation, the Government and its agencies were the ones being scrutinised. The other thing that Slater communicated on was that Labour would be going after Jason Ede. Recall that the PM wasnt perturbed by the fact that Jason had deleted his comms, destroyed evidence. As long as the distance could be maintained between JKs knowledge and Jasons actions could be perceived as possible in the eyes of the public, the Government would remain on the right side of things. I think the left popped out some bait (Phil leaking etc) - Cameron Slater took the bait, and the communication chain just got revealed, because the hook in the bait just caught JKs texting fingers. What do you think? Now off to catch up with the news... 30 mins worth of internet time left!!!
