Heres our humble abode up here in the woods of Maine. Its a cabin - TopicsExpress

Heres our humble abode up here in the woods of Maine. Its a cabin right now, with a brand new (today) porch w/roof, a little roof over the side door, and the olde west style sidewalk between the doors. The cabin is small, but has indoor plumbing, incredibly good water from the well (same water as Poland Spring), and heats easily from either of two heaters (propane wall furnace & wood/coal stove). Downstairs is one big multi-purpose room and bath, upstairs is the bedroom. Small, but comfortable. We usually leave a window open downstairs and in the bedroom for fresh air. It is only 28 across the front and 18 deep front to back. Pretty small. The ceilings are high, at 10. While we were building, Jennifer told Tim (the guy doing the work) that she thought the windows were kind of high. He told her not to worry, because once winter sets in she will only be seeing out of the top half anyway. (It is common for there to be five to six feet of snow on the ground in this area, with average wintertime low temperatures ranging between -10 to -20). Once the house is built, the cabin will go back to its original purpose, a tractor barn. The headers for garage doors, though you cant see them from the inside or outside, are already there. This will make a very nice tractor barn and a good place to work when the time comes. It will be a nice little barn, especially with all the insulation and two heaters!
