Heres some useful information from the Defense Travel Management Office: After December 20, the process that service members use to qualify for TSA Pre✓™ will change. TSA Pre✓™ is a voluntary, expedited security screening process that allows participants to keep on their shoes, belt and light jacket, and leave laptops and 3-1-1 compliant liquids in their carry-on bags. Under the new process, service members (including Reservists, National Guardsmen and members of the Coast Guard) will use their DOD ID number as the “Known Traveler Number” when making official travel or leisure airline reservations. Participants will use this new process to use dedicated TSA Pre✓™ security lanes at any of the 100 airports that offer the program. Visit tsa.gov for a list of participating airports. Members do not have to be on official travel or in uniform to participate. Action Required for Participation Service members can participate by using their DOD ID number (found on the back of their Common Access Card) as the “Known Traveler Number” when making reservations through DTS/T-PAX, through a Commercial Travel Office/Travel Management Center or when booking leisure travel through the airline or travel websites. When using DTS, enter your DOD ID number in the “Known Traveler Number” field when prompted to verify your Secure Flight Information (name, DOB, gender). To ensure you always participate in the program, save your DOD ID number in the “Known Traveler Number” field of your DTS profile. If making a reservation through a Commercial Travel Office, provide your DOD ID number as the “Known Traveler Number” when asked to verify your Secure Flight Information. Until December 20, service members can still participate by presenting their CAC to be scanned and verified at dedicated Pre✓™ security lanes. This program is available to service members at these airports only: Baltimore-Washington International (BWI), Charlotte Douglass International (CLT), Denver International (DEN), Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL), Honolulu International (HLN), Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA), Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA), St. Louis International (STL), Ted Stevens Anchorage (ANC), and Washington Dulles International (IAD). Please note that TSA is phasing out the CAC scan process by March 31, 2014.
