Heres something more positive than my earlier posting--Gold Line - TopicsExpress

Heres something more positive than my earlier posting--Gold Line construction photos. The two major gaps in the tracks are rapidly being closed. First photos show the section west of Mayflower in Monrovia, looking from the parking structure near the end of 5th Ave. Going east, tracks are in place all the way to the Foothill Blvd bridge in Azusa, and going west theyre getting close to the Huntington Dr. bridge. Next we see the ballast train at Magnolia Ave. in Monrovia, ready to deliver more rocks to Arcadia. Trolley wires and feeder cables are up in Duarte. On Shamrock Ave. in Monrovia, yard leads are heading for the Operations Campus. In Irwindale, another Traction Power Substation is in place, awaiting installation of a service drop from the Edison line. In Azusa, the eastbound track has reached the Foothill Blvd. bridge, and the subgrade for the westbound track awaits the spreading of ballast and placing of ties. Next month on Oct. 18, there will be a track completion ceremony at the Azusa Downtown station (off in the distance in the next-to-last photo). But there wont be a golden spike driven--no more railroad spikes. Maybe well have a gold-painted Pandrol clip, like those on this cart.
