Heres something that I havent done much of at all this season...a tropical update! We have three potential storms over the next week in the Atlantic. The first will likely become a storm today or tomorrow. The name will be Fay. It is a threat to Bermuda and not Florida or the East Coast. To the southeast of Fay is a second disturbance that the National Hurricane Center marked this morning for development. If this develops, the name would be Gonzalo. This might be something of more interest as the European model shows this developing and threatening the Bahamas next week. This reliable model has been reluctant to jump on much development at all this season but this time it is. To say its a South Florida threat is impossible since we dont even have a developed system. But its good to remember that weve had more hurricanes in October than any other month in South Florida. And finally in the far Eastern Atlantic another area of thunderstorms could follow this tropical burst and it would be Hanna. Based on the time of year its almost certain that this would stay well out to sea.
