Heres the IR from last night (8-21-14) Whites, Frying Pan and Falkstein (HC Complex), and the Man Fire in Wooley Creek. Looks like the winds are making the difference in how these fires are moving. The HC fires are spreading and spotting to the southeast towards the Marbles. The 2005 Stanza Fire and 2008 Panther Fire footprints should slow the Frying Pan Fire. Hopefully it gets to burn through the footprints of these fires a clear out the dead fuels on the ground and get these areas back into a fire resilient state. But until the public recognizes that just because we can suppress a fire may not mean we should, managers will be obliged to put them out as soon as they can. The Whites and Man Fire showed minimal growth yesterday. Jerry McGowans team pulled of a small miracle stopping the White Fire between Eddy Gulch and Whites Gulch with a well timed burnout that wrapped up yesterday. Folks up Eddy Gulch, Black Bear, Blue Ridge and Godfrey can breathe a little easier today....
