Heron to be displayed at once in a lifetime air show Final preparations are under way for the Centenary of Military Aviation Air Show to be held at RAAF Williams – Point Cook from March 1-2. Air Commodore Phil Byrne is again leading the air show team. This is the sixth air show I have helped to organise, but what makes this one so special is that we will have the greatest range of aircraft, starting with the oldest Australian military aircraft and ending with the Super Hornet, he said. People will be able to compare aircraft that were flown by the very first Australian military pilots with the powerful, complex machines of today. He said it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, even for ADF members. A Heron Remotely Piloted Aircraft will be one of the exciting exhibits at the Centenary of Military Aviation Air Show. The Heron provides high resolution intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability with real-time support to ground commanders to enhance force protection in the Middle East Area of Operations. The Heron is capable of flying continuously for up to 24 hours collecting Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare product that is analysed, processed and distributed in real time. Entry to the air show is free for ADF personnel (ID cards must be presented) and for Army, Navy and Air Force Cadets in uniform.
