Heute leider eine Absage vom SHORT OF THE WEEK FESTIVAL bekommen jedoch mit sehr sehr guten Punkten lest selbst : Hi Manuel, Thank you for submitting LIVE OR LET DIE to Short of the Week, the editorial team has now viewed and discussed your film and although we were impressed with the ambition of your piece, we have decided not to feature it on our festival. As a huge fan of the Zombie genre, its alway nice to see a film start of with a dedication to the Godfather of Death George A. Romero and although we felt there was lots to like with your film, our main problem was with its duration and pace. At over half an hour in length, your film is definitely in the longer regions of the short film format and when films reach this kind of length we often have to think about whether they manage to maintain a solid level of engagement throughout and unfortunately we just didnt feel this was the case with LIVE OR LET DIE. We felt the drama unfolded a little too slowly and we didnt become as involved as we would have like with your plot and its characters. Due to this lack of emotional investment, we couldnt help but feel our attention drift and once this had happened, it was hard for us to get back into the film. We have to think a lot about pacing and delivery with the films we pick to showcase on Short of the Week, as online curators we believe our audience is very different to a festival audience and what might suit a festival audience, doesnt always feel like it would suit our audience. Congratulations on completing such an ambitious project - theres a lot in LIVE OR LET DIE to be proud of - I think the Godfather of Death himself would be proud of that Day of the Dead-esque gut-ripping scene towards the end. Although you werent chosen to feature on Short of the Week this time, its worth noting many of our featured filmmakers werent accepted on their first submission, so we encourage you to submit your next film.
