Hey, Bands! If any of you are looking for a little extra cash this summer, we have a few odd jobs for you. Our summer music camp, SYMS (Summer Youth Music School) needs help at registration for both the junior and senior sessions and also needs ushers for some of the concerts. We typically hire outside people for these jobs so that the counselors are free to supervise and help the campers as they move in on registration day and move out on concert day. The pay is $10/hour. All students are eligible to work; you don’t have to be a music major or have attended SYMS. Here are the dates/times. You may work any number of events (1-5). Sunday, 7/13 8:00 am – 12:00 pm Junior SYMS registration Friday, 7/18 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm Junior SYMS concerts Sunday, 7/20 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm Senior SYMS registration Saturday, 8/2 8:00 am – 12:00 pm Senior SYMS Band/Orchestra concerts Saturday, 8/2 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm Senior SYMS Chorus concerts – can double-up with earlier concerts, but you will need to bring a lunch Registration: Check-in students, direct traffic, give directions, answer questions, etc. The dorm used for registration is TBA, but we’ll let you know (it may be Hubbard this year). We may need a few people to stick around to help with Junior schedules. Ushering: Assist audience members, control door traffic, answer questions, etc. Assist in case of emergency (will be trained briefly on procedures and locations of fire exits). Meet at PCAC lobby with house manager at call time. • If you are interested, please contact Alezis Zaricki ([email protected]) ASAP to let her know which shifts you would like to work. • You will need to complete a W-4 form (irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf) and mail it in. • IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN PAID BY THE UNIVERSITY in the past, you must also complete an I-9 form (uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf) and bring it in with two approved forms of ID. This must be done IN PERSON. Set up a time with Alexis to do this. If you have done this for another employer (off-campus), you still must do it here. If in doubt, please complete the form to ensure you get paid. • Parking shouldn’t be an issue EXCEPT for Friday, 7/18. If you contact us in advance and get here at 3:30 that day, we can assist with parking. Otherwise, you will either need to pay for a meter until 6:00 or park in C-lot and pay $1/hour until 6:00. We can give a 5-minute window for your arrival time if you park AT 4:00. We need 7-8 people for Jr. registration, 6-8 ushers for each event, and 8-9 people for Sr. registration. • Times may change slightly. We’ll notify you if this happens.
