Hey Craig, you might like this article just released on PLOS One. Its a little dense, but it talks about how primates (and humans) react physiologically to seeing movement. Effects of Crowding and Attention on High-Levels of Motion Processing and Motion Adaptation journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0117233 Im still trying to understand it, but I think they are talking about using fMRI to measure the way the brain reacts in real time. Basically this newer tech allows for finding the parts of the brain responsible for optical illusions given certain kinds of movements. Seems like something youd be into giving your HCI course that I never was able to take.
