Hey! Did you know the sea lamprey has existed for 280 million years and lacks many familiar characteristics of present day fish including bones, paired fins and jaws. Their snake- like body is made entirely cartilage and they feed by sucking through a circular mouth! See this oddity along with shad and Atlantic Salmon at the Turners Falls Fishway. The facility gives you a close up look during the height of spawning season. The Turners Falls Fishway is open during the Third Thursday event “The Nature of Things”, May 15 from 5-8pm. First Street, off Avenue A and behind Town Hall.
