Hey Eureka... This is regarding Angelo and the drumming.. This is important, its about what is right... We cant expect any better in the world around us if we dont pay attention to stuff like this.... I quote... heres the somewhat edited private msg i sent to you for those wanting more details. the intention is simply to share facts, not for the sake of gossip. dont have much time to waste just talking about it . . .but people do need facts to know how to proceed: ive been very hesitant to come out with all of this, due to my relationship with the director of esdn. she & i have talked about this more than once. i frankly have my hands so full its ridiculous and dont enjoy being in the middle of such things. as angelos friend and an extremely concerned community member, i simply had to. we truly feel like the public has the right to know. she has been blatantly ignoring him all year long after promising last fall to be sure that his compensation be included in this years capc budget. after all of the ignoring of his phone calls and him getting increasingly frustrated . . .the only thing that finally made her respond was my doing this post. and the reply was extremely nonchalant . basically just saying, well i tried to get the CAPC to fund and its complicated. and needless to say, shes not happy that i posted this. i am in a precarious position as a business owner. but hey. the truth is the truth. and i stand by it and angelo. his continuing to lead the drum circles is far more important to our community than somebody getting upset with me for telling the truth publicly. the deal is, the esdn takes credit as this being THEIR event. all they have ever done is pay a $50 permit fee for the year. they offered that to angelo long ago, with a motive or certainly so it seems now, to claim the event that he has created and sustained (for free). they do not even attend and have no idea the role that angelo plays. so not only no pay, but no communication, gratitude nor respect and taking credit for it as the sponsor (which typically means the one who pays) . . .it is just a blow out. on top of it, after everything that came down with angelo personally, (which has absolutely nothing to do with this. this was going on way before that) the esdn (out of what i guess they thought was being politically correct, loaded with a lot of moralistic judgement without knowing the real facts) they took his name out of all of the publicity, event pages, etc and he founded the event that HE has been committed to for a LONG time. hes even turned down other higher paying gigs to fulfill his (unpaid) commitment to our community. a reminder: what has gone on with angelo personally simply has nothing to do with THIS. its very important that we keep this on topic. this msg is so long, its crazy. just giving you the full picture. anyway, not sure what details people want to know. . .but angelo is only to be paid a mere $250 per drum circle, which is far below what he is paid in other venues. every single musician/performer that plays in the park is compensated. angelo set a dangerous precedent by doing this for free from the beginning . . .but thats what his reasoning behind allowing the esdn to sponsor, so that they would assure that he be compensated. and now here we are. enough details? probably too many actually. im trying to get one or both of the newspapers to interview angelo and write a story. . .so, its all gonna come out, anyway. hopefully. and in a way that will produce the desired result.
