Hey Everyone! This past Sunday I shared from 1 Corinthians 5:1-13. Today I will recap from verses 6-8. The Apostle Paul told the Corinthians that the Jews celebrated the Feast of Unleaven Bread after the Passover. During the week of celebrating, they were to go through their homes and remove all the yeast from their homes. Yeast or leaven is symbolically viewed as sin and influence in the scriptures. In other words, they were to remove the sin in their house and in their lives. The Corinthians were allowing gross sin to remain in the church and Paul warned that if it is allowed to continue, it would influence the rest of the congregation in a bad way. He told them to remove the unrepentant person from their midst. There are 3 residences where yeast (leaven) must be removed: 1. Our homes- What are we allowing in our homes that is influencing us in bad ways and is sinful according to the scriptures? 2. Our hearts- What is the Lord highlighting in our lives that He wants to remove? He has given us the promise that if we confess, He will cleanse (1 John 1:9)! 3. Our church- In Revelation, the Lord constantly commanded the churches to repent and turn from their sins. May the Lord give us understanding of how serious sin is in these 3 places. May He also show us what can be when there is genuine repentance and the freedom we can experience from the Him. Tomorrow, Lord willing, we will begin in chapter 6. Blessings, Pastor Mark
