Im back in action on CBC Radio today, plus Here & Now this evening and theres no shortage of weather to talk about! THIS AFTERNOON/TONIGHT Updated list of Warnings & Advisories can be found here: weather.gc.ca/warnings/index_e.html?prov=nl EASTERN NEWFOUNDLAND: Warm air continues to push into Eastern Newfoundland (highs near +10° early this afternoon) a few showers will continue this afternoon and those winds will continue to crank. Southwest Gusts in the 80-100 km/h range are on the menu this afternoon, evening, tonight & into Tuesday morning. Best to shovel away any snow/slush left on your walkways or driveways by Supper time, as everything will freeze up tight tonight. Temps drop back below zero this evening and will sink to -7° by Tuesday morning with wind chills near -18. Onshore flurries and snow squalls will fire up tonight & continue into Tuesday morning over the Burin & Avalon Peninsulas with localized amounts of 2-5 cm looking likely. CENTRAL NEWFOUNDLAND: Temps will continue to rise this afternoon, switching those who are still seeing freezing rain over to rain. Winds will really kick in as well with gusts in the 60-80 km/h range set for today & tonight. Youll see temps drop below zero this evening with a mix back to flurries and temps down to -10° and wind chills of -22 by Tuesday morning. WESTERN NEWFOUNDLAND: Temps will rise to near and just above zero from PAB to Corner Brook & Gros Morne this afternoon, but only briefly as cold air rushes back in switching the freezing rain/rain mix back over to flurries and snow squalls for tonight. 2-5+ cm looks set locally tonight along the West Coast with gusts in the 60-90+ km/h range as temps drop to near -9° with wind chills near -20 for Tuesday morning. NORTHERN PEN/SOUTHEAST LABRADOR: Winter Storm Warnings continue with snow and blowing snow set through today and tonight for you folks. Total amounts in the 15-30 cm range look set by Tuesday morning for the Northern Peninsula up to Cartwright, Groswater Bay & Eagle River, along with winds gusts howling in the 80-100 km/h range today & tonight. HV-GB & LAB WEST: Snow & blowing snow today & tonight with totals in the 15-20 cm range for HV-GB and Lab City/Wabush. Winds kick in from the Northwest tonight with gusts in the 50-70 km/h range, dropping temps to near -30° in Lab City and -18° in HV-GB.
