Hey Friends: Just wanted to take a minute to update everyone on - TopicsExpress

Hey Friends: Just wanted to take a minute to update everyone on the happenings at Antioch Speedway. This year, I had hoped to run an event the first weekend of each month. We got off to a great start with the Mid East Hare Scramble in April, Smoke in the Valley in May, and Summerfest in June. Thousands of eager dirt track racers fans and off road and outdoor enthusiasts came out to enjoy those events. we had lots of fun with those events, but after the Summerfest event, one of my main partners in putting on those shows, Don, found some other opportunities that he really wanted to work on. So, we had to put our summer shows off and look at fall for some events to do. I got a call beck at the end of July from the Mid east Hare Scramble goup about hosting an event at the end of September, but they needed it to be on a Sunday. And, in Caldwell County North Carolina, we are not allowed to host Sunday motor sports events according to the newest noise ordinance, so that event fell through unfortunately. I also had an opportunity to host a big race and weekend event here in October, but just couldnt find the right partnership deal to put on that event. Doing these events are more than I can do by myself. But in the meantime, Jason Smoot had been talking with us about running the speedway with weekly racing again in 2015. Jason has a Facebook page called The New Antioch Speedway for people who want to keep up with the developments on that transaction. Hopefully, we will see at least an open practice day here at the speedway before the end of November. As for myself, I have spent the past couple weeks working with the J2 Mayfield race team piloted by former Nascar Super star Jeremy Mayfield as they begin their venture in dirt track racing. Jeremy will be racing the biggest dirt super late Model and crate late model races around the country starting next week at the King of the Carolinas event at Carolina Speedway. Tell your friends to come out and enjoy this two day event with us in Gastonia next weekend. I cant wait to see many of you there!!!!! People also ask me all the time about my father Jim. He is doing fine. For years he was the heartbeat of Antioch Speedway. Back in the day, he worked at that place each and every day during the week 7 days per week. At times, it seemed like the race track dictated what he would have to do each week. These days, he enjoys doing the things that he enjoys doing....thats a great thing. Thanks so much to all the people that ask about him. His new car and team design inspired by Humy Wheeler The Man will knock your socks off!!!! Make sure you go and check out Jeremy Mayfield on Facebook as well. Remember, Jeremy had 96 top ten finishes in Nascars elite series and 5 big wins!!!! One of my favorites was when he bumped Dale Earnhardt over coming off turn 4 at Pocono to get the win. Not many people ever got one over on the Intimidator!!! heres a link to that great win and make sure you hear what Jeremy had to say about it after the race on the clip https://youtube/watch?v=Sikas9A7Z5A Finally, I have been looking into 2015. I am hoping to do many more outdoor events that most of our Friends would like to come have a good time at. Id like to do some at Antioch Speedway and Ive been looking at some other venues to do some of these events at too. Please keep in touch and we will have many more GREAT weekends ahead.... Come see us at Carolina Speedway next weekend, and I will keep you all posted where we will be at next. I miss you all and cant wait to see you soon!!! Lets have some fun together soon!!! How about a New Years Party .....Keep in touch. Danny Smith
