Hey Guys, Please take a moment to read and share this message of support from a friend of mine from Malta. The people of Malta grabbed their independence 50 years ago and never looked back, not even once! Saor Alba! Dear Douglas, With interest, I follow your endeavours in campaigning for the upcoming vote of the 18th Sepmtember. It is not a coincidence that the date of 18th September is so close to the 21st September. The 21st might mean nothing to you, but it means a lot to us on this rock. On the 21st September 1964 Malta became an indipendent nation. This year we proudly celebrate our 50th anniversary as a sovereign independent nation. Thanks to the foresight of our political leaders at that time. The same opposition arguments which are being raised by the “no” campaign in your country, are, in substance, the same arguments which the local opposition raised 50 years ago. Arguments of scaremongering, lack of faith and discouragement. Pointing out that such a tiny nation will never be able to make it on its own in the international arena. Malta has no natural resources such as oil, gas, or precious metals. We have no mountains or rivers. Our source of potable water are the RO plants which process sea-water into drinking water. However, in 50 years, Malta has weathered many political and social issues and stood up enough to be counted where it mattered, to transform itself into one of the top EU economic performers. The only asset Malta has are its people. We are not special, we have no extra virtues. Iam more than sure that the Scottish people can endure the challenges that indipendence brings along and transform them into golden opportunities for well being and prosperity. Unfortunately I am not eligible to vote in Scotland, but please rest assured that you have all our moral and spiritual support. Thank you for taking your time to read through this, but considering my love for your country, I felt compelled to share my thoughts with you. May your hard work be aptly rewarded, for the good of Scotland and the Scottish people and future generations. Sincerely Richard
