Hey Guys, Well it looks like we are in for a great weekend weather wise so lets all hope that the fish are biting. Squire captures have been really good this week with the average fish coming in at 40cm - 50cm however I have seen some really good Bay Squire over the 70cm. Schools of good sized Emperor are also cruising around the shallows. The usual wrecks and ledges around Coochie, Peel and Macleay Islands are all producing good fish on Bait and Plastics. Massive schools of Bonito are travelling the Bay which can be alot of fun to catch on light Tackle and make great bait, Just watch it when targeting these smaller fish as 20kg+ Longtail Tuna are already being caught around the fringes of these schools. Alot of Anglers are already taking advantage of larger than average Bream cruising the flats at night and hunting along rocky walls and bombies. Dont be afraid to use much bigger hooks and big baits as a 40 - 50cm Bream will happily smash a whole Herring or mullet rigged on two snelled 5/0 hooks. Summer Whiting are definitely fishing better up the creeks and rivers at the moment on Bloodworms and Yabbies, And the Winter whiting have moved onto the banks towards the Bar. There are certainly still plenty of Mangrove Jacks around as Micks session yesterday proves without a doubt (Pictured) these fish will surprisingly take all sorts of Baits from Hardbody lures to plastics and Chicken to Mullet, It is just a matter of finding a spot where they can lay in ambush and once hooked getting them away from their favourite Snag. Fresh Squid (large and small) Fresh whole Mullet, and Fresh Mullet Fillets are all available this week until stock runs out and as long as the dig goes well I should have Live Bloodworms by 10am today. Stay safe on the water and have fun!!! Dave.
