Hey! Im new to the page but joined through a friend, enjoying reading all of the posts so far! This is a video of my dog Biscuit (though, usually referred to as Bug). Without posting her whole life story she was a stray and in kennels for a year, but barely walked whilst there as showed aggression in the kennel and the staff didnt want to handle her. She knew no command words and was fear aggressive with men and dogs on arrival to my home, and has a strong prey/chase drive (animals and anything with wheels). Had been bred from a few times are chucked out by the looks of it. In the last two years shes come on leaps and bounds.. With a lot of work she will now accept 90% of men into the house without issue, is brilliant with children and great with dogs that she is introduced with properly and no longer trys to grab cars/cyclists at all. Her prey drive is managed and she has an outlet through flirt pole play, shes constantly following her nose, and her confidence has grown through hiking/swimming with me on Dartmoor. Bug still cant cope with unknown off lead dogs running up to her, I ensure that she sees dogs from a safe distance daily, but not close enough that she has to react, and I socialise her with friends dogs that she walks with a few times per week. This is a video with her friend Fred! Once introduced I think shes quite balanced with other dogs (though she does occasionally run at/knock Fred over when too excited) but her behaviour when dogs approach off lead and their owners cant call them back is to lie on the floor, completely still, and air sniff whilst hard staring. I block her at this point and shout the other dog to stop and then go away! Shes confident that I handle the situation and doesnt show aggression as much now, but if they continue to approach she will attempt to sprint at them, head down and growling, to chase them out of her space. She has never attempted to make contact with her teeth thus far. I am sensible and walk in quiet areas at off peak times. Do you think there is anything else that I can be doing? Generally walk in farmers fields but dont want her to never see other dogs, she shares the field perfectly with other off lead dogs that keep themselves to themselves, and in two years has never attempted to approach another dog/person but I walk her on a long line for security anyway. Sorry for the long post! Thanks :)
